Bob had quite the outburst last evening. Sheri was helping get him ready for bed. Bob did not want to put his pajamas on, but he did. Then Sheri realized "Al" had slipped Bob's shoes back on as well. Sheri simply said " Oh, we are climbing into bed so lets take your shoes off. " "Bob started almost ripping his pajamas off! He was angry and and his jaw was clenched tight. Sheri tried to stay calm, but she has really never seen him act like that. "Bob" she said " It is okay to leave your PJ's on, just slip your shoes off and we will go to bed." He took off his shoes" climbed into bed and it took almost an hour before he calmed down.
Subtle changes, she hates this disease.

I recognize this kind of interaction. It's hurtful when you, the caregiver, are doing your best and are met with anger. They must be so frustrated by confusion. Recently I discontinued Aricept after nine years. My spouse seems no more confused and, in fact, seems in better humor. Just a thought. Sally
ReplyDeleteSally, Bob has not been on Aricept since 2008. he had a allergic reaction that landed him in the ER they took him off that and the Nameda at that time. He was sleeping most of the day on the medications anyway so I was ok with that, because I would not have been able to get him to the day care. LOL
