This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Well, Bob gave up on trying to cut the 36 piece Alzheimer puzzle pieces to make them fit, "Al" has moved on to soaking them in water.
Heavy sigh...

  1. Your post just gave me thoughts: what about some more "icky sticky" tactile crafts: papermache, playdoughs, ooblick (cornstarch/water), silly-sand...

    1. Mariiarose, it is so funny has a very handy man his hands were always dirty you know glue, wallpaper paste and so on. Now he absolutely hates having stuff on his hands and sticky is the worst! LOL but thanks for thinking of us :)

    2. ok - how about ModelMagic or Fimo clays. Something that can be manipulated, but not sticky. Something that can be manipulated and aren't "the wrong" shape and need to be "fixed". (Like those puzzle pieces) Keep those hands and fingers moving.
